It underwent a functional restoration in the APPFI’s own workshops. This included boiler and mechanism testing, the replacement of damaged components, the construction of new buffers and couplings, plates, and headlights, and finally, it was repainted. The locomotive was put into operational service in March 2024. TBF 25 Locomotive The TBF 25 locomotive arrived at the Museum in 2024 to take part in the “Festa del Tren” (Train Festival), coming from the ARMF workshops in Lleida. It underwent final adjustments and the restoration process was completed, including a full repaint of the locomotive. It was then put into service, and throughout the year, further work was carried out, including the replacement of a grille, repairs to various components, and adjustment of the valve gear, among others. All of this was done in the APPFI’s own workshops. ESTADO 1003 Locomotive The ESTADO 1003 locomotive was transferred from Lleida to Móra in December 2022, following complex procedures and safety assessments to obtain transport authorization in accordance with ADIF’s safety regulations. Prior to the transfer, a thorough inspection and an update of its mechanical systems were required. In 2023, the locomotive was put into service with various interventions, including battery replacement, repair and commissioning of the exterior lighting, repair of both whistles, cleaning and sanitizing, and commissioning of the air, vacuum, and electrical circuits, as well as painting the interior floor. MZA 606 Locomotive The MZA 606 locomotive arrived at the Museum in 2019 after the MNACTEC, its owner, transferred it to our museum. Since then, it has undergone a functional restoration in the APPFI’s own workshops. Given the complexity and difficulty of the restoration, the collaboration of various organizations and foreign professionals has been necessary. Specifically, the entire locomotive was marked and completely dismantled; the wheels were repaired and turned; new springs were manufactured; the rear crossbeam was replaced; the buffers (including the springs) were repaired; the chassis was sandblasted and cleaned; the bracing was repaired; a new support for the boiler was built; the cylinders were repaired; new gaskets were made; the driving mechanism was repaired and refinished, including the manufacture of pins and bearings; the boiler tubes were removed; an ultrasound test was carried out on the boiler; new tubes were produced and received a special treatment (developed by the University of Valencia); tube expanders were manufactured; the driving axle bearings were filled with antifriction alloy; and several valves (water, pressure gauge, whistle, etc.) were repaired or newly built. New tanks, coal bunker, cab, and floor were also constructed. In addition, a new gear pump was specially manufactured and installed. Finally, after obtaining the corresponding certification, the locomotive was put into service in December 2021. In August 2023, an inspection was carried out that included cleaning the boiler, replacing the test cocks, turning the front axle, extending the ashpan, sealing the tanks, and painting the entire locomotive.
